Big news: Cocoon is joining TriNet!
A note from Mahima on our acquisition by TriNet and what it means for our mission.

When we started Cocoon, we had a simple but deeply held belief: that every working person deserves to be able to care for what matters most, and that technology has the power to make our mission possible. We just had to build the future we saw.
Leave touches some of the most profound moments in a person's life: welcoming a new baby, navigating a serious diagnosis, caring for a parent who needs you. For too long, the systems meant to support people through those moments have made them harder, not easier.
That's the problem Cocoon was built to solve. And today, I'm thrilled to share that we're taking our biggest step yet to realizing our vision.
Today we're excited to announce we've entered into a definitive agreement for TriNet to acquire Cocoon.
TriNet is a leading HR solutions provider trusted by tens of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses, and this acquisition reflects a shared belief that leave management should be compliant, seamless, and empowering for employers and employees alike.
What drew us to TriNet isn't just their scale, it's their conviction that the employer-employee relationship is built on moments of trust, and that leave is one of those key moments. That's exactly why we built Cocoon. Our mission has always been to empower every working person to care for what matters most, and finding a partner who shares that belief, and has the infrastructure and reach to help us pursue it, is a profound thing.
After supporting over 25,000 leaves and hundreds of employers across the country, we know our model works. And we know how much further there is to go for the millions of workers who still navigate leave through outdated systems, confusing processes, and unnecessary stress. Joining TriNet means we can reach them faster than we ever could alone, with the resources to keep building the product our customers deserve.
We couldn't be more excited about what comes next and looking forward to telling you more about what we will be building together with TriNet.
None of this would have been possible without the people who built Cocoon with us and believed in the vision alongside us.
In 2021 we launched with just parental leave support in California for our longest-standing customer, Benchling. As our team grew, so did our vision for what we could accomplish. We quickly added medical and caregiver leave support, followed by ADA leave accommodations. It’s been such a privilege to help companies like Superhuman build a compassionate leave policy, publish widely-used industry paid leave benchmarks, and fight alongside our community to advocate for paid leave.
From our very first customer to the 400+ we’re proud to support today, we’ve always been driven by that vision of making leave more accessible. This next step means we can accelerate towards that mission like never before.
I’m so proud of what we’ve built, and I’m so grateful to everyone who made it possible.
To our customers: you trusted Cocoon with some of the most significant moments in your employees' lives, and you pushed us to be better at every step. The experience you've come to count on isn't going anywhere—same product, same team, same support.
To our partners, who helped extend our reach and shape how we think about this problem: we are very grateful for your partnership in the journey.
To our investors, who took a chance on a big vision in a complicated space: thank you for the advice and support along the way.
And to the Cocoon team: none of this exists without you. I am deeply grateful to every Cocoon, past and present, who laid the building blocks and brought the vision to life.
Every working person deserves to care for what matters most. We've never been more ready—or excited—to make that possible.
Onwards,
Mahima
